Avalanche Rescue Fundamentals

This one day course is eight hours in the field and can be before or after the Level One Course. Maximum of 6:1 student to teacher ratio.
Some of the topics covered:
Understanding of actions needed by the victim and responders when an avalanche incident occurs.
They will demonstrate appropriate search techniques in various situations as a solo rescuer and as part of a group rescue.
Participants will work through one and two transceiver burials within specific areas and time constraints.
Students will learn appropriate methods and the process for locating a victim who is not wearing a transceiver.
Once the patient is excavated, students will identify likely medical issues and complications. We will discuss the importance for additional medical training outside the scope of this course.
Discussion of formal incident response along with how and when to request EMS resources will be covered.
